ATIP PROS’s President, Jean-Pierre Barrette (JP) has been a private practice lawyer who began his career in ATIP almost 30 years ago.   JP first began his career working for the Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada.  His main assignments were to provide legal advice as part of complaints and investigations dealing with complex issues as well as to deliver training to investigators.  

JP was the main author of the Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada’s Investigator’s Guide. He was also Assistant Professor at the University of Alberta and produced an exhaustive e-learning ATIP program for the Canada Revenue Agency.  As such, JP is a preeminent trainer with extensive knowledge and experience. He has also developed a reputation for being able to convey difficult and complex legal concepts in a practical and understandable manner.
